Brandon J McDermott
Brandon started with radio in high school - reporting live call-ins for football games to KOZN-AM 1620 The Zone in Omaha. He continued this with work at the Career Center, an OPS trade-specific school, where he recorded Jazz shows and spots for KIOS-FM in Omaha. He also interned at Waitt Radio/NRG Media in Omaha from 2005-2006.
After moving to the corporate world for six years, Brandon moved to KVNO-FM in June of 2011. At KVNO Brandon put together newscasts, as well as edited copies for reporters. Brandon also has served as a top-of-the-hour news anchor on top of reporting on UNO Athletics and Omaha Politics and served as News Director. Brandon has won more than 20 regional awards for his reporting.
Brandon was hired in October 2017 as a reporter and host on the statewide public radio network in the Cornhusker State. As a reporter, Brandon covers Business, Education, The Foster Care System and Politics in the state of Nebraska. He has also served as public address announcer for Division-I soccer, football, softball, volleyball and basketball.
After working at NET Radio for four years, Brandon resigned in April of 2020 and started as Morning Radio Host of “The Morning Sting With Big B,” on KDSN-FM in Denison, Iowa. In August of 2023, Brandon got the call to return to the Cornhusker State as the Operation Manager and Morning Host of KHAS Radio in Hastings.
